SETTING UP THE TRANSMITTER

To set up the EVERSAFE® Two Button Universal Garage Door Opener Transmitter, follow these steps:
  1. Hold the transmitter so the bottom of the unit and the battery faces you with the DIP switches closest to your body.
  2. Find the manufacturer if your unit in the BRANDS table to determine the correct DIP switch positions . All DIP switch numbers and letters refered to in the manual refer to the numbers or letters located in the Printed Circuit Board (PCB). Ignore the numbers on the DIP switches. Please refer to the numbers located on the PCB olny.
  3. Move the 3 manufacture select DIP switches (labled A,B, and C) to match the settings noted in the BRANDS table for the manufacturer if your existing unit. SET THESE SWITCHES FIRSTNOTE: The UP position is away from you. The DOWN position is toward you.
  4. Move the coding switiches (labeled 1-12 on the PCB) to match the setting on your existing unit. These DIP switches are internal to the original transmitter or radio receiver and can be accessed by removing the top plastic cover of the transmitter or on the head unit of your garage door opener. You will only set the same number of DIP switches on your EVERSAFE® transmitter to match the number of DIP switches on your current unit. For example, if your current unit has 9 switches, only set the first 9 switches. The remaining switches can be left in any position. If your garage door opener was manufactured by Stanley see "STANLEY OPENERS" below.
  5. To store a setting to BUTTON #1, press and hold the SET CODE button and button # 1 at the same time for approximately two seconds, then release both buttons. BUTTON # 1 is now set up.
  6. To store a setting on BUTTON #2, return to Step 2 and repeat the set-up steps. After setting the DIP switches for your second opener, press and hold the SET CODE button and BUTTON#2 at the same time for approximately two seconds, then release both buttons. BUTTON #2 is now set up. IMPORTANT: The coding DIP switches must exactly match the DIP switches of the existing unit. Please note that the nine switches of your EVERSAFE® unit have an UP, DOWN, and MIDDLE setting. If your original transmitter's DIP switches have only two settings, (UP and DOWN), be sure that the DIP switches on the EVERSAFE® transmitter are either set all the way UP or all the way DOWN.

    BRAND SPECIFIC INSTRUCTIONS

    • SEARS
With some Sears Craftsman transmitters, The DIP switch numbering begins with the number "2". When programming the EVERSAFE® transmitter to operate one of these models, please use the DIP switches located on the radio receiver (near the head unit) rather than the DIP switches inside your original transmitter. The radio receiver can be found on or near the garage door opener motor head mounted on your garage celling. The DIP switches are usually located near the point where the electrical wires enter the garage door opener head or on the externally mounted radio receiver.
    • GENIE
Some Genie openers do not have DIP switches. They have "knockout" or "punchout" switches to set the transmitter code. Where the hole is "punched out" on the original transmitter, the EVERSAFE® DIP switch should be set in the UP position. On these models, the EVERSAFE® transmitter DIP switches (1-9) should never be in the MIDDLE position.
    • STANLEY
If the EVERSAFE® transmitter will not operate your Stanley opener, try setting the DIP switches (1-12) to the opposite positions of your original transmitter. For example, if you set all 12 of the DIP switches to the UP position to match your original Stanley transmitter, then reverse the switches to the DOWN position and test the EVERSAFE® transmitter again. Some Stanley openers do not have DIP switches. They have even numbered wires located in both the original transmitter, and the head unit. Notice that there are no odd numbered wires. To program the EVERSAFE® transmitter to operate one of these units:
      1. Place all of the DIP switches (1-12) in the DOWN position.
      2. Now locate the uncut wires in the original transmitter or head unit.
      3. Place the EVERSAFE® DIP switch that matches that number in the UP position.
      4. On these models. The EVERSAFE® transmitter DIP switches (1-9) should never be in the MIDDLE position.

If your original has two or three buttons...or

If your original transmitter is lost or broken

If your original transmitter had two or three buttons, or it is lost or broken, please use the DIP switches located on the radio receiver (near the head unit) rather than the DIP switches inside your original transmitter when setting up your EVERSAFE® transmitter.
The radio receiver can be found on or near the garage door opener motor head mounted on your garage celling. The DIP switches are usually located near the point where the electrical wires enter the garage door opener head or on the externally mounted radio receiver.
YOU DO NOT NEED TO DISASSEMBLE THE GARAGE DOOR HEAD OR RADIO RECEIVER TO LOCATE THE DIP SWITCHES.

To set-up the EVERSAFE® transmitter for "Smart" or "Learning" garage door openers,
    1. Reach the motor head unit and remove the plastic cover. Find the "Smart" or "Learn" button on the head unit. The button should have a LED (Light Emitting Diode) next to it.

    3. Press and hold the button on your EVERSAFE® transmitter where you stored your code. While holding down that button, press the "Smart" or "Learn" button on the head unit. After the light on the head unit flashes, release both buttons.
    4. Test your EVERSAFE® Two button Universal Garage Door Transmitter by pressing the button.

    PLEASE NOTE:

You have now added the acces code of your EVERSAFE® Transmitter to the radio receiver. However, your original transmitter may not be able to communicate with the opener. If this is the case, erase the memory of your radio receiver by pressing and holding the 'Smart' or 'Learn' button on the head unit for approximately 10 seconds. Now, relearn your original transmitter by pressing and holding the button on your original transmitter. While holding the "Smart" or "learn" button on the head unit. After the light on the head unit flashes, release both buttons. Then, relearn the EVERSAFE® transmitter. If this fails to make both transmitters compatible with your garage door opener, then erase the memory of your radio receiver and relearn the original transmitter and match the EVERSAFE® transmitter's DIP switches to the DIP switches on the original transmitter.
