I'm a graphic designer working in the city. My work is one of the things that I have always been most proud of. It is really a passion of mine.

Her voice is like gravy. Once it's being poured, it falls in thick and fluid waves without any limitations. It's also soothing, impassioned, and whether deliberate or not, fierce. Dana Lawrence sings with such emotion and intensity that her songs breed this all-consuming force of energy. It almost feels like her voice is bursting through the walls, snaking underneath the floorboards and hovering around the ceiling's light fixtures in Chicago's Gunther Murphy's back room. Nearly 60 people have gathered around the bar's stage to hear her croon, and virtually all of them have these transfixed expressions on their faces.

Every Sunday these two gifted roots rockers face off on six string banjo and good ole' guitar to take requests and play their own choice selections. You haven't enjoyed Sunday right until you've heard a bluegrass rendered 80's medley laid alongside some Woody Guthrie followed up with some Motown Banjo--a backwoods take on the pop classics of this century.
