Hey everyone!
Here I am, finally. I'm on the far right. This is The Honeybees, and we'll be playing at The Big "C" Jamboree in Chicago on Thursday, June 4th, 1998. We'll be doing a few swing, R&B and rockabilly tunes (by artists like Wynona Carr, Marie Adams, Rattled Roosters and BR5-49). Come check it out!

The band members are (l-r):

Barbara Clifford, lead vocals
Theresa Drda, drums
Bob Lara, guitar
Lisa Wertman Crowe, bass and vocals
the Honeybees

So who are we and what have we done?

Well, if you've been hanging around Chicago for the past 10 years or more, you may have seen Barbara singing with her former band the Bedbugs. Barb is a founding member and  instructor for Hep Cat Swing, a local swing dance group. Check out their site; it was designed by the Robman!

Theresa has hit the skins for the Greaseballs (surf instrumental), The Mummys (you may remember their Pravda single, "Shocked!"), and most recently the Fireflies featuring former Moondog Steve Szczeblowski.

Bob has been in thousands of bands, including These Tamborines (some material was produced by Peter Buck) and Get Smart!, and is currently in Boney Pile and Big Blonde Wig.

As for me, Lisa, my claim to fame was the 80's post-punk pop band Get Smart! (see our old promo photo below). We toured and recorded for Enigma records and released two full-length LP's (on that black vinyl stuff) and two 45's. Since then, I was in the local band Dolly Varden for about a year and a half, long enough to do several studio recordings and play some local and regional shows. After that I did a stint with the Nora O'Connor band. Then I took a break to give birth to Sean. I'm pretty busy with parenthood, so I don't expect to be doing a lot of gigging just yet.

But enough about me. Why not send me an E-mail?

Get Smart!, circa 1981.
