How to Program your One For All® remote

(Model URC-6885)


Clock Set

  1. Press SHIFT - VCRPRO - 4
    The screen will display the time and date.
  2. Enter the correct hours and minutes using the number keys.
  3. Enter AM or PM (the 8 and 9 keys)
  4. Enter the day of the month using the number keys.
  5. Enter the month using the VOLUME+ OR VOLUME - keys.
    The remote will automatically set the day of the week and the year.
  6. Press VCRPRO to exit.

Set Up

After getting the proper codes from your manual or Customer Service, use the following instructions to enter them into your remote.

  1. Press the device you want to program, then release.
  2. Press Shift, then VCRPRO, then 1.
  3. Enter your 3 digit code.
  4. The screen should scroll back to display the device selected and the time.

Device Mover

To change a DEVICE key to set up a different device on it
  1. Look up the set up code for the device you want to set up.
  2. Press the DEVICE key you want to change.
  3. Press SHIFT - VCRPRO - 2 -
  4. Press the Volume + or Volume - until the device you want to change to is on the screen.
  5. Press PLAY
  6. Enter the code for your device.
  7. Aim your VCRPRO 4 at your device and press POWER.
    Your device should turn off.

Pro Set Up - Getting Your VCRPRO Ready to Tape

The VCRPRO can be used to change channels through your Cable Box or VCR.
If you us either of these to change channels, you must set your VCRPRO.

Cable Box Users

If you use a Cable Box to change channels, you must set the VCRPRO for CABLE.
  1. Press SHIFT - VCRPRO - 3 - CBL.
  2. Enter the channel (from the choices on the screen) that your VCR requires for you to
    view cable programs. Use the number keys to do this.
  3. The screen will ask you about Custom Setup - Press NO (Volume - )
  4. The screen will ask about a Test Record - Press YES (Volume +)
The display screen will guide you. Remember, you must aim the VCRPRO at your VCR during
this entire procedure.
Doing a test record will ensure that you have programmed the VCRPRO correctly to record cable channels through your VCR.

Non-Cable Box Users

If you do not use a Cable Box to change channels, you must set the VCRPRO to VCR.
  1. Press SHIFT - VCRPRO - 3 - VCR
  2. The screen will ask you about Custom Setup - Press NO (Volume - )
  3. The screen will ask about a Test Record - Press YES (Volume +)
The display screen will guide you. Remember, you must aim the VCRPRO at your VCR during
this entire procedure.
Doing a test record will ensure that you have programmed the VCRPRO correctly to record cable channels through your VCR.

Recording With VCRPRO

One Time Recording

To program your VCRPRO for one-time recording, follow the instructions below:
  1. Press VCRPRO
  2. To Daily/Weekly press NO (Volume - )
  3. Enter the channel you wish to record, using the number keys.
  4. Enter the start time, using the number keys,
  5. Enter AM/PM using the 8 and 9 keys
  6. Use the PLAY key if you have to advance the screen.
  7. Enter the length of the program you wish to record using the number keys,
    For example 1 hour is 1:00.
  8. Enter the date and month of the event you wish to record, using the number keys,
    Press PLAY to advance the screen.
  9. The screen will display the date, time and length of the recording you have just programmed.
    Press VCRPRO to exit.
  10. Set your VCRPRO down, aiming it at your VCR. Also, make sure your VCR is off and you have a tape in. If you use a Cable Box, make sure it is also off.
If the VCRPRO displays Conflict, you have programmed two events to record at the same time. To fix this, follow the steps under CLEAR below.
To program another event follow steps 1 through 8 again. At step one the screen will ask you to add another event.
Press YES and continue with the instructions.

Daily/Weekly Recording

To program the VCRPRO to record daily or weekly.
  1. Press VCRPRO
  2. To Daily/Weekly, Press YES (Volume + key)
  3. Use the FF and REW keys to access the day, To record daily you must choose all days you want the event to record.
  4. Press the VOLUME + key to choose the day of the week to record. And press the VOLUME - key to erase a day you have already chosen.
  5. Press Play to advance the screen
  6. Enter the channel you wish to record, using the number keys.
  7. Enter the start time using the number keys. Enter the AM/PM using the 8 and 9 keys.
  8. Press the PLAY key to advance the screen if AM/PM is left unchanged.
  9. Enter the length of the program you wish to record, using the number keys,
    For example: 1 hour is 1:00.
  10. Enter the date and month of the event you wish to record, using either the number keys.
    The VCRPRO will automatically set the day of the week and the year,
  11. Press PLAY to advance the screen.
  12. The VCRPRO will display the date, time, and length, of the recording you have just programmed.
  13. Set your VCRPRO down, aiming it at your VCR, Also make sure your VCR is off and you have a tape in. If you use a Cable Box, make sure it is also off.
If the VCRPRO displays CONFLICT, you have programmed two events to record at the same time. To fix this, follow the steps under CLEAR below.

To Record What You Are Watching

  1. Put a tape in your VCR
  2. Press R (the record key) twice. The VCRPRO will begin recording.
  3. Press S (the stop key ) to stop recording.

Review

To review the programs you've decided to tape:
  1. Press VCRPRO
  2. At "Add a new event" press NO (the VOLUME - key)
  3. The screen will display your next scheduled event.
  4. Press Volume - to scroll through the rest of your entries.
  5. Press VCRPRO to exit.

Clear

To clear an old program or an incorrect entry:
  1. Press VCRPRO
  2. At "Add an Event" press NO
  3. Press VOLUME - to scroll through the entries until you find the one to delete.
  4. Press M (the MUTE key)
  5. At "Delete?" Press YES (the volume +) to delete the setting.
  6. Press VCRPRO to exit.

Advanced Functions

You can use advanced functions on your VCRPRO to access all of the functions of your original remote.

Direct Access

  1. Find the three digit code for your advanced function.
  2. Press SHIFT - the three digit code.
  3. The function will be performed on your device.

Key Magic

This feature allows you to put a function on a key so you can access it quickly
  1. Find the three digit code for your advanced function.
  2. Press SHIFT- VCRPRO -5 - FF - FF - SHIFT - three digit function code. - the key you want the function on.
  3. The screen will say ":Key Magic completed"
  4. Hit the key you put the function on
  5. The function will be performed on your device.

Key Sequence

  1. Press the device button you wish to put the sequence under.
  2. Then Press the shift button, next press the VCR-PRO button.
    Ex: Power, Power.
  3. Then continue on the with the sequence as you wish it to be on. Sometimes it is necesary to turn all products on before you choose channels to do so,
    Follow this example:
    Ex: TV + POWER + VCR + POWER +CABLE + POWER + TV + 03 + VCR + 02 + CABLE
    Sometimes it is not necessary to turn all products on before you choose channels. To do so follow this example:
    EX: TV + POWER + 03 + VCR + POWER + 02 + CABLE + POWER
  4. Press the VCRPRO button to end the sequence. The remote LCD screen will read "Key Sequence Saved".
  5. To run te sequence through, push the DEVICE button you started the sequence on, then press the SHIFT button, next the button you put the sequence on.
    EX: TV + SHIFT + MUTE.
